This fantastic and unexpected donation comes from Neil Philips, who was responsible for the fabrication of the windows designed by Craigie Aitchison (1926-2009) for St. Mary's Church, The Boltons, London. The three templates being sold are iconic images from Aitchison's work, the Crucixion, a Bedlington terrier and a lone Cyprus tree. I have liaised with Terry Danziger-Miles, from the Timothy Taylor Gallery, London, who are the Executers of the Craigie Aitchison Estate. The Crucixion is in two pieces. It's height is 96 x 60cm. The Cyprus tree is 63 x 12cm and the Bedlington Terrier is 36 x 45cm.
Although not an original work or in fantastic condition as they were literally used in the construction, these templates are usually destroyed so it is a unique opportunity to acquire them. Please look at the website for the Church at www.stmarytheboltons.org.uk - click on the WELCOME button and then select Craigie Aitchison. if you are interested in this lot do contact me for further images or details.
